Public Greenhouse (Historical Exhibit)

(Waterfowl Lake)

Plant enthusiasts and horticulturists have enjoyed the lush greenery of the Public Greenhouse where hundreds of species of tropical plants were displayed.

The Zoo's Public Greenhouse was located near Waterfowl Lake. It housed hundreds of plants, including Queen sago, ficus, pencil tree, and chestnut vine. During the spring there were tulip, daffodil, and hyacinth displays, and in the fall there were mums. Winter displays featured poinsettias, amaryllis, and ferns.
